Keeping the BCP tradition alive
At St John's we are committed to the living use of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible have nurtured Anglicans for over three hundred years in the Christian faith. 2010 marked the 400th anniversary of the KJV Bible and 2012 was 350th anniversary of the BCP.
Our BCP services are as follows:
Sunday 7.00 a.m. Holy Communion (said)
Sunday 11.15 a.m. We alternate between a Choral Eucharist and Choral Mattins. You are invited to have morning tea beforehand with those who worship at 9.30 a.m.
Sunday 5.00 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month (excluding January) Choral Evensong.
Wednesday 10.00 a.m. Holy Communion followed by Morning Tea in the Robertson Room.
St John’s enjoys a long tradition of musical excellence. Our Choir is a four part choir that sings at the BCP 11.15 a.m. services on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month and Choral Evensong at 5.00 p.m. on the 1st Sunday of the month (during the school term). Extra voices are always welcome.
