St John's Care
"Jesus talks about being hungry and thirsty for righteousness, for justice... we have to conclude that he means that we should feel something missing in us, something taken away from us, when another person, near or far away, has to face need and suffering. We get to be ourselves only when we wake up to them and their needs." - Archbishop Rowan Williams

St John's Care is a parish-based welfare organisation, operating in Reid, next to St John’s church. We run a number of programs, including:
Patch a puzzle – a group of elderly volunteers repairing wooden puzzles and toys for preschools.
Breakfast Club at Ainslie Primary School, serving breakfast to kids in a friendly environment.
Marriage Education Courses.
Community Lunches – free three-course lunches once a month, open to all for good food and friendship.

Christmas lunch on Christmas Day and a Christmas Present Room where parents can choose presents for their children.
Counselling referrals
One on one Grief Support
A Drop-in-Centre where our clients, most of whom are isolated and marginalised, can relax in a lounge room type space and have a cuppa, a chat, a game of chess or cards and something nice to eat.
We also provide a Telstra voucher system, bus fares, prescription filling, shoes, clothing and blankets.
And last, but most certainly not least, we provide FOOD which is generously donated through the Anglicare pantry appeal, Canberra parishes, schools, community groups and individuals.
We give thanks for the generous support of so many people which enables St John's Care to keep the doors open so that the lives of people in need may be enchanced.
