Keeping the tradition alive

At St John’s we are committed to…

contemporary Anglican liturgy and worship, using A Prayer Book for Australia
and the living use of the Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) and the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible have nurtured Anglicans for over three hundred years in the Christian faith.

Last year marked the 400th anniversary of the KJV Bible and 2012 will be the 350thanniversary of the BCP.

Both the BCP and KJV of the Bible are used in public worship at St John’s.

Our BCP services are as follows:

Wednesday 10.00 a.m. Holy Communion

Sunday 7.00 a.m. Holy Communion

Sunday 11.15 a.m. We alternate between a Choral Eucharist and Choral Mattins.  You are invited to have morning tea beforehand with those who worship at 9.30 a.m.

Sunday 6.00 p.m. (on the third Sunday of the month, excluding January) Choral Evensong.

The Choir

St John’s enjoys a long tradition of musical excellence.  Our Choir is a four part choir that sings at the BCP 11.15 a.m. services on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month and Choral Evensong at 6.00 p.m. on the 3rd Sunday (during the school term).  Extra voices are always welcome.

Our Director of Music is Sheila Thompson who has a performance degree in pipe organ from the Canberra School of Music and is a teacher of piano and organ.
